Orthodontics

Gnsdn 1Orthodontics is the practice of preventing and correcting irregularities of the teeth and jaws, by the use of braces. Orthodontics involves the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of dental and facial irregularities, aligning and straightening teeth to deliver both function and aesthetics.

At Woods Dental we have a particular interest in orthodontics for both adults and children. We do not hold a NHS contract for orthodontics and all treatment is provided on a private basis.

We offer a full range of orthodontic options such as:

We believe that in most cases the best solution to creating a healthy smile is orthodontics. This mode of treatment avoids the damage associated with restorative solutions such as porcelain veneers or the long term maintenance of cosmetic bonding procedures.

If you are interested in orthodontic treatment we would advise you book a consultation with our Orthodontic practitioner Geraint Morgan. He has completed an additional 3 years of specific training by obtaining the Diploma in orthodontics from the Royal College of surgeons of England and has been delivering orthodontic treatments for over 20 years.

He will identify any additional dental health problems and refer you on to an appropriate colleague if additional restorative dental treatment is required. He also works closely with our dental implant surgeons in cases requiring dental implants to replace missing teeth, as well as our restorative dentists in cases requiring general restorative or cosmetic dentistry.

Geraint will discuss your concerns and with your input he will identify the optimal treatment for each individual. Expertise and state-of-the-art technology deliver a healthy, straight smile as discreetly and quickly as possible, ideal for adults seeking the smile they have always desired or parents who want to invest in getting their child’s bite and smile just right.

By far the most popular treatments are Invisalign clear aligners and fixed braces using Clarity™ ADVANCED Ceramic Brackets by 3M

Invis 1Invisalign

Every innovative feature of the Invisalign system is designed to reveal the smile you deserve. Millions of people worldwide have now had their smiles transformed by Invisalign, removeable and near-invisable aligners.

Key features of Invisalign treatment are:

  • Invisalign can be used to treat a wide range of teeth staihtening issues from mild to complex.
  • Invisalign clear aligners are removable so you can continue to do all the things you normally do such as flossing, brushing, eating whatever you like and sports.
  • The aligners are very discrete so friends and family are more likely to notice the improved smile than the aligners themselves.
  • Our state of the art digital planning tools mean you only need short and usually non-invasive appointments with your Invisalign provider every 6-8 weeks. They’ll provide you with your next series of aligners so you can change them every 1-2 weeks, wherever you may be.

Clarity™ ADVANCED Ceramic Brackets by 3M

Short-term orthodontics

You may have seen orthodontic treatments advertised that offer extremely rapid results, sometimes in as little as six weeks. Whilst this is true it is important for you to understand that this is only the case if tooth alignment problems are mild and require simple tipping movements or correction of mild rotations/crowding.

For mild cases or patients willing to achieve a compromised result then one of our short term orthodontic solutions may be suitable.  The treatment may be carried out with removable appliances, clear aligners or fixed brackets. These options may be delivered by one of our general dental practitioners who have completed further training in orthodontics.

Our short term options include C-fast, Inman Aligner, Clearsmile aligner, Invisalign, Smilelign  and Quickstraightteeth.

Childrens Orthodontics

Unfortunately NHS waiting lists for childrens’ orthodontics in South Wales are very extensive, even up to 4 years in some areas even if your child does qualify for treatment.

We do not hold a NHS contract but we would like to help your child obtain the smile they deserve in a timely manner. We provide childrens’ orthodontics at vastly reduced fees compared to our adult prices and still offer our full range of finance packages, including 0% finance, to help make the treatment as affordable as possible.
